Dark Valley is a sci-fi and fantasy anthology podcast written and produced by husband-and-wife creative team, Mark Zurek and Elsbeth Denman. Dark Valley is inspired by Mark’s love for the genre, most notablyThe Twilight Zone and Black Mirror, and Elsbeth’s passion for storytelling, which she has honed as an actor, director, and producer.

Dark Valley was originally conceived as web-series circa 2014. Some of the initial episodes can trace their first draft back five years. After several pilots and media were considered, Dark Valley evolved into a podcast concept in earnest by mid-2019.

A reflection on modern society and its stresses, Dark Valley blends the radio drama narrative of the 1930s and 40s with contemporary settings and issues. Its goal is to take listeners on psychological journeys both pleasant and unpleasant, explicable and inexplicable, tragic and uplifting. As an anthology show, Dark Valley has considerable freedom in both its storytelling devices and the characters therein.
